Hemp Oil For Dogs: Things You Might Not Know

The results seem to be in…researchers are turning their attention to this herb. So far, they’re finding there’s lots to like. Hemp oil is doing wonders in helping humans and because Dog’s and Cats have the same cannabinoid system that we do they can also reap the same health-boosting benefits.

Let’s look at the 10 things you might not know about this often misunderstood herb and the research that shows its promise in helping dogs with a variety of common health issues.

1. Will WHPE make my dog or cat High?

NO!- Whole hemp oil will not make your dog high or cause them any harm. Hemp oils provide the benefits of this amazing extract without a worry of getting them high. In short, your dog won’t get “high” from Happy Buddies oil.

YES!- Does your dog suffer from separation anxiety or noise phobias? Whole hemp plant extract has been extensively studied for its effect on stress and anxiety. In humans, research shows it can:

  • Reduce anxiety
  • Be effective for panic disorders and post-traumatic stress disorders

So, if your dog is suffering from anxiety, whole hemp oil would be a great way to keep him relaxed when he’s uncomfortable.

YES! – Research shows that whole hemp oil and other substances in hemp have an anti-tumor effect. It has even been shown to stop cancer cells from growing and increase tumor cell death.

Whole Hemp oil can:

  • Help the immune system to fight cancer cells
  • Kills cancer cells by blocking their ability to produce energy · Can help increase the efficacy of conventional cancer treatment
  • Can help reduce the side effects of certain cancer medication

Disclaimer: Happy Buddies does not make any claims to cure cancer.

Estimates suggest that up to 5% of dogs suffer from seizures. Most dogs with seizures are given drugs such as phenobarbital and potassium bromide. Sure, these drugs may help control the seizures. But they can be extremely harmful to your dog’s liver and other organs. And the drugs don’t work in all cases. Whole hemp plant extract has been shown to work well in drug-resistant epilepsy. In one study, 7 of 8 patients with drug-resistant epilepsy saw a definite improvement within 4 to 5 months.

The elements in whole hemp plant extract have also been shown to work well for pain. So well, in fact, that scientists are considering it as a new class of drug for the treatment of chronic pain. Studies show this plant to be very effective for reducing:

  • Pain (including neuropathy and nerve-related pain)
  • The impact of inflammation on oxidative stress
  • Inflammation in acute pancreatitis
  • General inflammation
  • Intestinal inflammation (associated with irritable bowel disease)

Animal studies show that this extract can prevent colitis (IBD) and restore normal gut motility in inflammatory bowel disease. It also has antibiotic properties, including Staphylococcus Aureus (MRSA).

YES- Whole hemp plant extract also inhibits the production of inflammatory macrophages and decreases chronic inflammation. It is also a powerful antioxidant research shows is more powerful than vitamins C and E.

Now, just because WHPE can help with these conditions, that doesn’t mean you should give it to your pup at the first site of a behavioral problem or other symptom.

WHPE is WONDERFUL for cognitive behaviour issues. For instance, if you are training your pet and they are having issues focusing our just super irritated or distracted/anxious, this would be a GREAT time to give them a dose of WHPE.

If your puppy is acting aggressive towards other pets or animals, for example, I’d take these issues up with your vet first.

Most puppies grow out of bad behavior (such as biting and chewing), especially if you take the time to teach them not to act in this way.

When To Give Your Puppy WHPE

I generally recommend looking to this extract for relief from chronic symptoms and conditions that can’t be treated with some kind of behavioral or lifestyle change.

If, for example, your dog’s separation anxiety continues to be a problem and your vet is suggesting putting them on some kind of prescription anxiolytic, that’s when I’d start looking into WHPE.

Happy puppy training!!!!

YES- If you have trouble getting your dog to eat, WHPE may help. The National Cancer Institute reports that this extract increases appetite. Studies show that in dogs it can help with vomiting and nausea, even when they’re the result of toxins and drugs.

Just as veterinarian Dr Bassingthwaighte discovered, WHPE has been linked to heart health. Studies show it can: · reduce the damage from damaged blood vessels and irregular heart rates · protect blood vessels from damage and dilate the arteries · reduce heart rate and blood pressure associated with stress and anxiety

Bonus: WHPE For Dogs Is Legal And Safe

With so many studies showing the health benefits of WHPE, the most encouraging result is that its safe even when taken in high doses and over extended periods of time.

It can decrease the activity of liver enzymes used to metabolize many prescription drugs. So if your dog is on medication, you might want to check with your veterinarian before using WHPE. Happy Buddies is a human grade WHPE.

The bottom line is, WHPE could be a healthy (or even life-saving) herb for your dog. More and more pet owners and holistic vets are drawn to its diverse health benefits. And they feel good knowing the side effects are mild and animals don’t appear to build up a tolerance.

What Should I know when choosing WHPE for my dog or cat? Not all WHPE extract oils are the same … you’ll want a high quality oil that works, so here are a few things to look for:

· Make sure the product is organic: If it isn’t organic, the product could contains pesticides, fungicides or solvents.

· Don’t cheap out: The higher the quality and purity, the higher the cost. Don’t price shop … make sure your WHPE oil is free of additives and has a good amount of extract. · Get the analysis: Always ask for a lab analysis or a Certificate of Analysis (COA). Many WHPE oils contain only small amounts of the extract. The manufacturer should provide a certificate of analysis. You’ll also want to make sure there no THC in the product.

· Please view our COA for Happy Buddies Products at the top of our home page under Certification.

Start your dog off slowly. Lastly- Don’t let the naysayers tell you isn’t WHPE a good option for your dog … the research is continuing and the results are very promising.
